- Larvae roll the leaf usually in the form of a frustum stay inside it for most of the time. These rolls are called leaf shelters.
- This leaf shelter is the reason for the larvae not having any bird predator.
- For rolling the leaf, they produce some kind of a web.
- Usually, the larvae face towards the smaller side of the frustum.
- The later instars of this larvae stitch the upper opening of the leaf shelter and blocks the other opening with its excreta.
- The temperature inside the leaf shelter is higher by around 5 degree Celsius than the surroundings.
- This species of butterfly and its larvae don't like bright light and are hence nocturnal, i.e. they are most active during the dusk and the dawn.
- We have also observed new feeding pattern of the larvae (Young/Just born larvae).
- The eggs need sunlight to develop.
- The larvae just love our pesticide (The Exterminatore).---This makes our job a lot more easier!
- After consulting some of our Chemistry teachers and working on the most probable compound in The Exterminatore that is responsible for killing the larvae, we came up with this
This compound's formula is C47H69NO8S
Sorry for we haven't been able to figure out its exact IUPAC name. (Courtesy:https://www.emolecules.com/)
